Plan ₿ Summer School, Tether launches university-based Bitcoin education program in Switzerland

Interested in learning more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies? Whether you’re new to the subject or want to brush up on your knowledge of the blockchain, this educational program may be of interest to you. In an effort to boost cryptocurrency adoption in Switzerland, three Swiss universities will provide education on Bitcoin and blockchain this July. The trainings of the Franklin University Switzerland (FUS), the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) will be there for you in the framework of the program Plan ₿ Summer School.

This program is an initiative of the company Tether, the issuer of the stablecoin USDT and the Swiss cryptofriendly city of Lugano. It aims to make blockchain education accessible and train a new generation of business owners and academics well versed in this field. A first edition of this program took place last year. It trained 86 students from 29 different countries on blockchain.

The next edition of the program Plan ₿ Summer School is scheduled for July 2-15, 2023. This year’s program will focus on Bitcoin technologies and their impact on financial freedom and free speech. Topics such as Bitcoin, the Lightning Network, stablecoins, peer-to-peer technologies, mining, blockchain analysis, regulation, etc. will be discussed.

This initiative is widely supported by the authorities of the city of Lugano. Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano hopes in particular that this program will support the ambitious plan to make Lugano a hub of crypto.

We are excited to host the Plan ₿ Summer School again and hope for the same participation and attendance as last year.

Michele Foletti, Mayor of the city of Lugano.

Lugano, hub of crypto in Europe

The Swiss city of Lugano and the company Tether are committed to the adoption of Bitcoin in this city. Last October, Lugano and Tether had already signed a partnership with Gocrypto to help local businesses integrate Bitcoin and Tether in their payment services. The extensive restaurant network McDonalds was one of the first beneficiaries of this partnership. In the same month, Lugano and El Salvador formalized an economic partnership to promote the use of Bitcoin.

In addition, beyond the annual Plan ₿ Summer School program, Lugano and Tether are organizing Plan ₿ Forum. This conference brings together each year nearly 2000 world leaders, developers and entrepreneurs to discuss state adoption of Bitcoin, the economy, financial freedom, and freedom of speech.

The Swiss city of Lugano seems firmly committed to promoting Bitcoin to its residents, and they can already pay their taxes in Bitcoin. Will it go so far as to make Bitcoin a legal tender like its Salvadoran partner? Let’s hope so.
