This is the news of the day in the UAE, the hypermarket Day To Day now accepts cryptocurrencies in the country.
The brand which sell a very large collection of everyday products (food, beauty, sports, hygiene, etc..) has announced that its customers can now use their active cryptos for online and retail purchases! A first in the country.

Note that unlike the Beaugrenelle mall in Paris, we are not talking about prepaid cards that can be bought in crypto, but payments using them directly!
This payment is the result of a partnership with the exchange Pallapay which allows the purchase and sale of Bitcoin both online and with its BTM.
To date, here are the branches where you can use them:
- Al Quoz Br. (Dubai)
- Al Safa Sharjah Br. (Sharjah)
- Baniyas Br. (Dubai)
- Ajman Br. (Ajman)
- Al Fahidi Br. (Dubai)
- Abu Dhabi Br. (Abu Dhabi, Opening Soon)
Note that Abu Dhabi is not yet available but will be soon.
Of course if you place your order online, this problem does not arise and you will just have to select “pay with cryptocurrency” when validating your order.
Here are the supported cryptocurrencies:
- Palla, the cryptocurrency from Pallapay
- USDT (TRC20 and ERC20)
- Tron
- Dai (ERC20)
- Ethereum
- USDC (ERC20)
You will then be given an address to send your cryptocurrencies to and pay for the order.
Once the payment is received, which can take from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the blockchain and the state of the network, you will receive a confirmation message.
Now you know how to spend your cryptocurrencies on the Day to Day site and I must admit to being surprised at how simple the experience is. Indeed here in the UAE, the UX and UI about banking and payment are way behind other countries… So, no doubt that such a simple experience will find its clients, thus continuing to put the country on the road to global leadership in the sector by 2030.
