Following the devastating September 8 earthquake in Morocco, Binance, the world-renowned crypto exchange platform, is launching an exceptional support initiative. It has pledged to offer a total of $3 million in BNB tokens to residents of the regions hard hit by this natural disaster.
70,000 Moroccan users to benefit from Binance’s help!
The recent earthquake in Morocco had devastating consequences, costing the lives of over 3,000 people. Binance, with a large user base in Morocco, gets involved in charity work for affected residents.
The platform undertakes to offer up to $3 million in BNB to users living in areas of the province of Marrakech-Safi, the hardest hit by this tragedy.
To do so, Binance Charity will use proof of address (POA) submitted by users before September 9, 2023, in the province of Marrakech-Safi, as an eligibility criterion. Around 70,000 Binance users in Morocco are expected to benefit from this initiative.
Binance offers assistance of up to $100 in BNB per victim
Users who completed their POA before 09, will each receive $100 in BNB directly into their Binance account. Aware that some users may not yet have had the opportunity to complete their POA, Binance has granted a grace period.
For those who finalize their POA between September 9 and 30, 2023, a donation of $25 in BNB will also be made to their Binance account..
The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people is devastating. We hope to be able to provide some support to those affected. We are asking Moroccan users who receive these donations, but who are not affected by the earthquake, to pass on the funds to those who need them most.
CZ statement
In addition to this generous contribution, Binance Charity has set up a public donation address, allowing anyone who wishes to contribute to do so. All donations received will be entirely donated to an authorized NGO. Cryptos accepted for donations include BNB, BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT and BUSD..
It should be noted that this Binance initiative comes at a time when cryptocurrencies are making face a total ban in Morocco.
