Binance donates $100 to Binancians affected by Turkey earthquake

The exchange Binance has announced an aid plan following the earthquake that hit Turkey. The platform plans to provide $100 in BNB to each of its customers living in the areas affected by the earthquake. Binance has also set up a public address to collect funds to help the Turks. In the same framework, CZ, the CEO of Binance has launched an appeal for solidarity with Turkey.

100 dollars for each Binancier affected by the earthquake in Turkey

This Monday 06 February 2023, major earthquakes hit Turkey and, to a lesser extent, Syria. Entire regions have been devastated by the tremors, leaving more than 11,200 people dead, mainly in Turkey. Thousands of Turks are also injured and/or homeless. Initially, these injured and homeless people are relying on solidarity to survive and recover.

In response to this tragedy, Binance has launched a campaign to support the Turks affected by the earthquake. According to the statement announcing the campaign, Binance will donate $100 to each of its customers affected by the earthquakes in Turkey. These funds will be paid in BNB and should reach a value of 5 million dollars, the platform informs.

In response to the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Turkey, Binance will distribute USD 100 in BNB to all Binance users identified as living in the areas most affected by the tragedy.

The $100 donation from Binance will not be given to all Turks. This includes Binance customers who live in one of the ten cities where the earthquake had a significant impact. These include cities in Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay. Binance intends to use the completed Proof of Address (POA) before February 06 to be able to identify the beneficiaries.

Binance calls for solidarity for the people of Turkey

Binance is well aware that the earthquakes have not only affected its customers in Turkey. It is the entire community that is affected both in Turkey and in neighboring Syria. So, in addition to donating $100 to its customers, Binance has launched a large fundraising campaign to assist Turks and Syrians in need due to the earthquakes. The fund is open to everyone and contributions can be made in BTC, ETH, BNB, BUSD, XRP.

Through this fundraiser, Binance hopes to raise close to one million US dollars. All funds raised will be donated to humanitarian NGOs working on the front lines in Turkey and Syria. This should provide medicines, shelter, food, blankets or any other emergency supplies. At the time of writing, nearly $16,690 has been mobilized. This represents 1.67% of the goal to be reached.

Crypto industry, it is time to follow Binance on this

The CEO of Binance hopes that these efforts of his platform will bring relief to the people affected by the earthquakes. Nevertheless, Changpeng Zhao is under no illusions. The needs are so great that Binance alone cannot meet them. Thus, he calls for a surge of solidarity from the entire crypto industry.

We hope that our efforts will bring some relief to those affected. We also call on our industry peers to come together to offer their support in this time of crisis.

During the Ukrainian crisis, cryptocurrencies have already proven themselves as a way to help those affected. In Turkey and Syria, where banking infrastructure has been destroyed, cryptocurrencies will undoubtedly be an alternative for charitable organizations.
